What does your town have to offer?

So I see that a lot of people enjoy talking about their towns or states. So, I want to know: What makes your town or state unique? What does it have that no one else has?

For example, my hometown had the first major U.S. Goldrush. Yes, we beat California and Alaska. We also had a US mint here for a while. On a sad note, the Trail of Tears started right outside of town. We also have one of the top 5 military schools in the nation.

Georgia has a lot of stuff, but starting Coke, having the worlds largest aquarium, second largest St. Patrick's Day Parade (that I've marched in), mountains, swamps, forest, and... Well, lots of other stuff. Haha.

So what does your place boast?

By the way, I'm trying to make this different then what created.... Its almost like saying who's football team is better. A little friendly competition, of sorts? Its all about bragging rights baby.

Trinity and I got into a fight over which state was better: Texas or Georgia.... That is kinda what this is.

Absoltley nothing it's whats outside of town that has anything to offer. About a 20 min drive up california hwy 190 is the Sequoia Giant National Forest Home of the Largest living thing on the ENTIRE PLANET "General Sherman". This town is crap full of gangbangers and drug dealers but the forest is so beatiful =) Also here in Tulare county is the Worl AG Expo the largest and most Known agricultural expose in the world. We get people from all around the globe here buying farm equipment and learning and sharing new technologies for growing, raising, and harvesting most of the worlds foods. GO TULARE COUNTY!!!!

Hmmm, bragging rights?

New York City.  The city that never sleeps.  The Big Apple.  Pretty much the center of the universe.   There's no city like my city.  Enough said.

The fact that it has lots of nicknames doesn't make it all that..... So what do you have?

It's not about nicknames.  And what does it have?  The better question is what doesn't it have?  Why does everyone want to come here?  Because anything you want, we've got it.  But aside from the art, the famous people who have lived and died here, the history that has made this city what it is, and so many things that I can name, this is what we have-

We have the toughest, most caring people in the world.  We have lived through some of the most horrible, terrifying events in the world's history.   We have lost friends and family.  Watched people jump out of windows in front of our very eyes and then worked for days to try and recover their bodies.  We have had days of breathing in smoke and living with pure fear in our hearts.  And we all came together to help one another.  My mother walked a bridge terrified, alone trying to get back home.  A man, a stranger seeing her so alone gave her his phone so that she could let her family know she was alright.    We stood on street corners and cried.  Men and women alike as fighter jets flew above our heads.  We cheered our police and firemen as they raced down the streets.  We rebuilt and we still welcome anyone who wants to come here.  That's what my town boasts.  Lots of love and a hell of a lot of hardcore people.

Oh, I saw about the most caring people in the world in NY... Dunno about that, but Georgia is where we get the idea of southern hospitality. You won't meet much more helpful people then Georgia peoples.

Being helpful and being caring are two different things.  Guess you had to be here to understand.  But we have top museums, first class restaurants, gorgeous hotels (The Plaza, The Waldorf-Astoria), a park in the middle of the city which contains it's own wonders once inside.  Ballet at Lincoln Center.  Broadway shows.  The list goes on.

Rye Playland; Coney Island; Yankee Stadium (new one next season); She Stadium; Empire State Building (top of the rock baby!); Statue of Liberty; Ellis Island......things you may only know as a New Yorker, but that makes it even better: Webster Hall; Our dearly departed Copacabana; All seven dozen Ray's Pizzas; The dollar pizza on 41st and 8th; China town (great food, sh!tty service); Designer bags starting at $35 in Canal street; A bodega (grocery store) on every block; Endless clubs that don't let out til 4am; After hour clubs; 24hr diners (someone can eat breakfast, lunch and dinner all at 5am).......the list goes on. I don't want New York to outshine the other places...

Haha. I love the fact that you had to add that Wet & Wild isn't some sort of porn.... Ha. My senior class actually went there and to Disney's grad night as a senior trip.... Both were a lot of fun!

Re: What does your town have to offer?

From my vantage point in Southern California, i can boast:

  • Year-round "decent" weather
  • A 45 minute or less drive in any direction can get me:  Snowy mountains, beautiful beaches, lakes/rivers for fishing and watersports,  desert camping, Disneyland, Universal Studios or Hollywood, and of course, "California Girls"
