What Do You Want to Achieve in 2009?

What Do You Want To Achieve in 2009? Do you have goals, whether they be short-term or long? Personal, Career, Family, Community, or the like?

I always start with my New Year resolution. I may not always stick to it, but goals are different from a resolution. When I set a goal it is a reflection of who I am and how important it is to me to see that goal(s) through from inception to completion. Goals are also an excellent way to measure your own personal success. I set a few reasonable and one very challenging. Just one. But that "one" is not so unreasonable that I will let myself down if I do not accomplish it. It is just like an extra treat if I do so happen to meet it.

What are yours? What do you want to achieve or do differently in 2009?

Win an age group award in the Bluegrass 10,000.  Run a major marathon in a large US city and beat a 3:45.

awe, Stevie...you have just inspired me! there is a race in spokane called the Bloomsday Lilac Race, that i would love to run. the climate is similar to here so i could train comfortably! thank you for that.

i would like to see my family out west as much as possible this next year.

my "one" goal, which is the most challenging......i'll have to think about how to describe it. stay tuned. i'll elaborate on it once i can nail down a description.

That's a 12K (just shy of 7.5 miles).  Looks like a fun time!  Build up to where you can run/jog 6 miles without stopping completely.  Don't worry about speed on your first one - the goal is to finish.  You'll have a great time!  Found any local 5K's in your new area?

For the marathon next year, I'm thinking Atlanta in November.

IMO, you probably should be able to do 6 outside because of the push (backs of legs and glutes) and the hills.  Just so you know you can do it.

I am going to start going back to the gym. I gained back the weight I had lost. So time to get back into descent shape.(Believe me nothing spectacular just average would be good for me). My house looks like a disaster hit it in some areas. So plan on finishing getting the house back in order. So maybe by Easter or my daughters Birthday in June I can have the family over HERE for a change. I lost my mom last Christmas so I am trying to live my life to make her proud. Actually it was a year ago yesterday so this has been tough year for me! Time to get back on TRACK! So when I need some motivation........ should I come here??????......lol

Merry Christmas!

I'm with you!! Those are definitely some things I want to accomplish in 2009 also. Honestly, I'm starting to feel a little better knowing I'm not the only one.

I just want to stay positive. A few months ago my entire staff took up the "Complaint" challenge for 30 days. Each person put on a purple bracelet and each time you complained, were negative, or gossiped you had to switch it to the other wrist. There are 49 of us and we went through 511 bracelets before someone finally hit 30 days. Even though I never made it the full 30 days it really impacted my life because it was a physical reminder whenever I wanted to focus on the negative. I was amazed at how much baggage I was able to let go of when I no longer focused on the negative. I have found a peace I didn't have before and I recognize negativity and self defeating behaviors a mile away now. It has helped tremendously with my stress level.

My other resolution is to keep my children emotionally healthy. They are turning out great so far and I'd like to see that continue onto adulthood...
