What's your MPG ?

What is your MPG ?  don't be shy (or for your SUV owners, embarrassed)

2004 Chevy Cavalier Automatic (unfortunately lol)  [/quote] Are you saying "unfortunately" because it's a Cavalier or an automatic?  :)  I liked cars once.  I've come to the realization that unless you wipe your a$$ with money, it's just not worth it to overspend on something that sits in the sun, and the snow, and the rain, gets pelted by road debris, gets dinged in the parking lot, gets the seats burned by pot seeds, depreciates each year, etc.

I think a Cavalier is awesome. :)

Re: What's your MPG ?

I love my cavalier... well... for the most part... I saw and ad for it, said I wanted it, had it delivered brand new to the house the next day... granted I wish it had power locks and windows, but they didn't have any on the lot in black with it, so my impatience got me that...

Yeah yeah, I know... I'm spoiled..... I admit it...

My unfortunately comment was referring to the automatic portion of the vehicle... my family doesn't believe I can drive a standard and told me I wasn't allowed to have one (I couldn't tell them I had flirted with all the boys to teach me... I guess I should also note I was 17 at the time too)

Standards get better gas mileage so... yeah... whatever... I had a standard before, it was my first car (they surprised me with it... did I mention they didn't think I could drive one?) it was a convertible triumph tr7... I want to say it was a 1970... it was adorable, but I couldn't turn the wheel without lifting myself outta the seat when going in reverse.... yeah, that thing didn't even have power steering :(...

But with the way gas prices are going I think I should be keeping my eyes out for some hybrid or hydrogen or alt. fuel vehicle..... I get good mileage, but... I feel I could get better.

Re: What's your MPG ?

I'll never have another manual tranny.  Sure it's cool.  Yeah cool.  for a while.  Then it becomes a PITA.  Autos are smoooooth.  With my 4Runner, you can't even tell when the shift occurs.  I don't care how good anyone thinks they are with a clutch - have 'em do the mother-in-law-scalding-hot-coffee-with-no-lid-filled-to-the-rim test.

Auto transmissions free up your shifting hand to do other things.  Holding your cell phone to your ear, texting, picking your nose, opening a beer, giving the guy that cut you off the finger, digging for that Cheeto you dropped between the seats, or holding your significant other's hand.

Re: What's your MPG ?

Manuals are fun... I never said I was a smooth shifter, but I personally like a bit of shift-shock... especially when my passenger decides my dash is their personal drink/food tray...

Besides... in my automatic, I have 2 free hands... I spend most of my driving time  coloring in my coloring book or practicing my juggling...

And the last point, with gas prices the way they are, a standard transmission would be more cost-effective...  then again, with as much fun as they are, I'm not sure I'd be driving very cost effectively ... lol

Does your significant other mind holding your Cheeto grease-covered hand after picking your nose? That always drives my wife crazy... Yours must be one in a million...

Ugh.... I drive a 2000 jeep grand cherokee

I average about 17 mpg. I hate the gas mileage, besides that I love it.

I have another vehicle, that if i really put my foot into it, will get around 8-9MPG.... and it runs on Premium! ($4.85/Gal as of yesterday)...
...But.. i only drive that for "fun".. and i dont "put my foot into it" often, so it averages around 17mpg...
