Re: What's in Your Stocking?

i have a bright red stocking that has fluffy (fake) white fur and some sparkles. it's adorable. :)

i usually buy things like chocolates and individual candles (i <3 candles) to use as stocking stuffers. last year i bought these great "make hot chocolate" stocking stuffers that i added as part of some peoples gift. it was shaped like an ice cream cone and had two layers of cocoa powder and a layer of marshmallows on top. i got different flavors and the people who received them immediately made their hot chocolate. i hear it was yummy. :)

I don't have a stocking!  :(  We don't have a chimney to hang them on.  BUT if we did, I'd want one like my mom made me when I was little.  Red with white fluffy trim around it and my name in green glitter.  What I'd put in stocking would be chocolates, candy canes, candles, crayons for the kids, $5 gift cards for lil' snacks (Starbucks, McDs, stuff like that)...

Those are a good idea... our backdoor is glass and I've been thinking of putting a wreath, so I'll have to buy me some of those for that... thank you ..

Mom is the youngest of 5 kids, so I have lots of cousins.  Grandma hand knit angora stockings for each of her kids, then for each spouse as they got married.  Once the kids started coming, she made them for each of us as well.  They're all mostly the same, green, photograph of Santa, and our names.  The whole set is so old, it doesn't get hung up and used anymore, they're just too fragile at this point.  Now, Mom puts up quilted stockings that she made.  Once I figure out how to make a heel (Grrrr, stumped!!!), I suppose I'll knit my own set.

Re: What's in Your Stocking?

Stockings was always our favorite part on Christmas growing up. We always saved them for last. Filled with all kinds of little things including chocolate and anything small enough to fit even jewelry! I couldn't find my daughters stocking last year (it wasnt a good time for us) so I put her goodies in her christmas hat.......lol. So we will be going out and purchasing a new one this year ...... hmmmm........I wish someone still did a stocking for me *sigh*.

Merry Christmas!

aww my kids stuff my stocking every year.  They ride their bikes to school and they pass a walgreens.  So I always end up with some flavored chap stick (since we go to the mountians and I wear in in the cold 24/7) or a light up key chain (saved my butt one year - LOL) & I'll find some little treat of some type.  They get goodies for all the stockings (mom gives them extra stocking buying money).  They get so excited when we open them too.

Now that is cute.  And I think that is the best stuff.  They make so many great mini-items you can just throw in your purse and go.  Flavored lip balms are always a hit. Needed for windy winters, sometimes they are christmas themed, and they taste yummmy :p My little brother put a mini-sized bottle of asprin in my stocking one year.  I was interning a lot of hours, now that was thoughtful. lol
