Where Will 2009 Travels Take You?

Where will travel take you in 2009?

Whether it be personal or business, do you have a plan in place?

Since we are now on the East Coast, we are much closer to a myriad of destinations we have yet to visit. That not only is exciting, but is a real $avings as well.

Having lived near the West Coast, we have pretty much been everywhere within a 2-6 hour flight.

With Spring Break being just months away, I am seeing that airlines are already at capacity. Seats are triple the cost of last year, and many are electing to have a "Staycation" right in their own state.

Where will you travel this year? What method will you likely use: Plane, Train, Automobile, Bus, Hike, or another means? If gas prices continue to drop, for the first time in years traveling by car may be the new "it" mode.

Re: Where Will 2009 Travels ✈ Take You?

I have actually been doing the vacation calendar this last week. We are headed to Disneyworld in February for our daughter's National Cheer Championship, Lake Tahoe, CA in Jan/Feb for the snowboarding season (yeah!! the only time I love cold weather), a mini cruise to Mexico with all of my extended family (sisters, brothers, parents, kids, etc) for Spring Break, Las Vegas at the end of February for some adult time, Detroit to visit grandparents in late June, Hawaii in late July with the inlaws, The Mexican Riveria in August for our anniversary, Disneyworld with the whole extended family (inlaws too!) in October, and Oregon for Thanksgiving. And the kids....well they have summer camp for a few weeks, Mini goes to visit her Biodad for two weeks in Fl, a church houseboats trip, and cheerleading camp.

I started booking airline tickets two days ago and was shocked at the quick changes. I bought our tickets to Fl on Thursday then someone else decided they wanted to go so I went back online to purchase another ticket for the exact same flight yesterday and it had gone from $233.00 to $414.00 in less than 24 hours! So needeless to say I am on watch alert for all our tickets and using miles for everything! I signed up on Travelocity for alerts. I put in our destinations and the price we are looking for so whenver it pops up they send me an email and I book it!

Oh Disney in February should be nice and great weather.  I think living in FL (and yeah I know you do to) we have learned the slower times at Disneyworld (when to go) and the busy times (when to avoid).  So a FYI for anyone planning I have learned over the years the best months to go are:  Febuary, May and October (except avoid it around Halloween).  It seams like those are months when everyone is in school and the parks are less crowded.  Fat chances you will see us there ever in the summer because besides it being 150 degrees, there is a gazillion people there.  Trust me we have been with friends durring that time and seen the park close out for ticket sales by 11am because the park is at its limits - yeah no fun at all.

Actually we are in California..Carmel to be exact so Florida is a trip for us but I do appreciate the weather there. I could never handle the Hurricanes and storms though. I'll take my earthquakes anyday! :)

I ask everyone this who mentions LT and snow.   Feb is good time for snow fun in LT?  I really want a snowboarding lesson and I want to have it there.  Oh and that will be my first destination stop for the new year.

We have a cabin on South Shore and have been going to Lake Tahoe since I was 6 so with the exception of Big Bear in LA it is the only place I have gone. We go a few times every Jan/Feb because the snow is usually great. February is nice because it seems to warm up a bit and nothing beats skiing in jeans, a sweatshirt, and 60 degree weather. There are some fantastic resorts for learning....Sierra Summit has fantastic deals that include equipment and lessons, as well as a sledding hill. Their kids program is great for all day. Heavenly is more of a younger crowd since it so close to the casinos. Really no matter where you go Tahoe is a greta place to go...small town, skiing/boarding, and casinos for a night life (try Altitude at Harrah's)!

Now that's what I've been waiting to hear!

Finally someone who actually has been on those slopes, thank you!  I've only been there for 4th of July week.  We have a place on Saddle Rd (south too) not too far from town and right across the road is another Heavenly hill.  So I have no clue which I would use.  The one in town or the one across the street where we stay.  I had a horseback riding instructor at Richardsons, he told me to come back for sleigh rides in the winter too?  Have you tried that?

Sierra Summit was actually the first place I learned to ski when i was a little girl :) I wouldn't mind going back there too.

I grew up in Lake Tahoe Beeee. Ask anything you want to know! I love, love, love skiinbg/boarding at Sierra-at-Tahoe. They also have AMAZING instructors. And right now, you can buy a 3 day pass for $49 a day- and you can use it ANY 3 days you want. Sure beats paying $72 a day for single passes! But if youre staying in town at south shore, hit up heavenly. The new gondola is awesome!

Ive been on the sleigh rides. Theyre fun! Hot cocoa and peppermint schnapps! mmmm!

Plus, nearly all the resorts have tubing now, which is excellent fun!

Theres also a new yummiez sushi place up there hehe. And shopping on The Y!

A trip to FL in March with a few of my other friends is what I meant...But I don't think I'm up for it as, the main reason they're going is for an annual music fest...like techno type music...blah...ick...As much fun as I know I'd have with them, the idea of the music makes me cringe.

Well I'm going to Philly.  I have to go hang out with my most favorite critterkeeper. :)
