Are we talking books or movies?  Books?  Hands down, it's Robert Jordan's "The Wheel of Time".  Movies...I'm going to take the road less traveled, and say "The Mists of Avalon", a 2001 mini-series based on the book by Marion Zimmer Bradley.

ugh, i had 'movies' in the poll title then changed it. should have kept it. however, books or movies works!

i favor LOTR for movies, but favorite book series is Twilight.

I've heard The Mists of Avalon was a good book and movie. I will have to check them out.

I love Harry Potter books and movies, they are great escapes from reality. Lord of the Rings looked good, but they were just too long and drawn out for me. My brothers and husband have tried several times to tie me down and force me to sit through at least one of them, but it never works.

i loved the Mist of Avalon!  such a great movie and the i have the book as well.

but, LOTR is one of my favoritest movie trilogies ever.

The mini-series was excellent, and really kept to the book, as best as it could.  Gotta say, though, the fight at the end, between Angelica Houston and Joan Allen was just plain silly.  Have you read the other books in that series?  Good stuff, I'm all about the "girl power" books, telling the story from the "lesser female's" perspective.  Similar writing style and perspective, if you enjoyed Mists of Avalon, check out Jennifer Roberson's "Lady of the Forest".

no i haven't read them but i'd def like too.  i agree about the fight scene but, aside from that, the series was awesome.  i <3 sci-fi and fantasy and that series didn't disappoint.

I like the Anita Blake series for serious fun, and the Southern Vampire Mysteries (what the true blood show is based upon) for silly fun  (the books are friggin FUNNY)

As far as movies go, I like Harry Potter....so far. I didnt like Narnia or LOTR at all. Twilight was....sparkly.

i agree with you twilight was a very good movie.I hope that make a nother one

katie, have you net yet heard of or read New Moon?

Oh, i wasnt saying twilight was good. It was sorta silly, really. Im hoping new moon is MUCH better.

I hadn't read the Twlight series or seen the movie. I refuse to see a movie made from a book until I read the book. However, Mini is a fanatic and has been on my arse to read the books so we could watch the movie together. I finally picked up the first book last Wednesday and read the entire series by Saturday night. But now I am out of town so I have to wait three weeks to watch the movie with her when she gets back from visiting her Dad....ergh!!! We went to see Harry Potter and they showed the New Moon trailer...I thought she was going to pee her pants right there....

sparkly. yes thats the word i was looking for to describe it. perfect ae! my favorite series would have to be star wars. i dont have a costume or go to conventions or anything but i can respect a sci fi history making movie series.

One trilogy to rule them all. So yeah, Lord of the Rings. Ranks in my top 10 movies of all time. As in history of movies, ever.

I don't want to die without any scars.

Star Wars is better than all of them
