snooping:

Nothing posted on the net should be private. If you want a private life leave it OFF the net. In my opinion nothing is really safe on the net anyway and it's way too easy for people to get away with things that they should not be doing. So snooping on the net to me isn't really snooping. They posted whatever we look for on the WWW. So that's my ticket haha.

Re: Why do you snoop?

After reading through this thread for a few days now, I decided to put my two cents in.

I totally agree with NancyT and some others out there!

I think that nothing on the internet should be assumed as private information. If you don't want people knowing about your business, then why even bother putting it up there.

First of all, Myspace is just myspace. It's a place where people can keep in touch with friends, family, whatever. If you have beef or drama with someone, and you have all your business on your myspace profile, and then try to set it to private, you're an idiot. I know you really don't think that it is truely private. With so many of us, hackers, geeks, and dorks, that can even hack into your PRIVATE bank account, you really think that we can't look into your private myspace profile? C'mon give me a break!

I snoop because people put their business out there for other's to look at. If you don't want people in your business, then don't even put it on the internet, you're the idiot that thinks private is really private, when in any case on the internet, it's really NOT.

I hope I didn't cause any conflicts to arise. But this is my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

Regardless of any case, I still am an avid believer of Gug and definitely a proud member.

Happy Holidays....

[/quote] I don't see why your opinion would cause a rise as the discussion isn't a debate. It's really about whether it gives you a euphoric feeling to obtain info that someone else thought/thinks is truly private... ...or if you now regret what you've seen because it hurts you. I completely agree that the internet is NOT private. I haven't told a soul about the private profile code and many people want to know why I leave my profile so bare when all I "have to do is make it private." LOL! ;) Happy New Year!

Okay....well whatever.  I just wanted to put my two cents in. Maybe I worded it wrong.  It's still my opinion.

I understand that it isn't a debate I'm not retarded.

MyWhiteness, once again it is Hotmama99's opinion that it could cause a rise. I think she was just trying to be curteious.

I did not gather any hint of disrespect in her message. This seems to be one of those times when cyber messages are perceived opposite to the senders intentions.

Thank you ever-so much though and Happy New Year!

Re: Why do you snoop?

Why do I snoop? Well, I used to not be a snoop. I was a very trusting individual. Naive you might say. And then I realized that if I didn't get smart and do some poking around, my future and my child's future could be at stake. This Myspace thing can be an evil playground for cheating spouses and GuG offers those of us who get caught holding the short end of the stick in a divorce a chance to make things a little more fair.

When I first signed on here, I was thrilled that there was a working code available and I had a chance to see a few things that helped me tremendously but that was the last time that I had the opportunity to see anything. However, I have learned lots of other things as GuG has tons of things to offer. I think that even after my need to snoop is over, I will still visit here. Kudos to you guys and gals!!!

Re: Why do you snoop?

Hi . Yes, I have a child and I have the "keys" to her myspace so I am ok there. We butt heads about what is and is not appropriate to put in her profile sometimes and I have been known to sit down with her and go over her friends list and delete people that aren't necessarily her "friends". She gets mad but understands after a good heart to heart. ;)

I am pre-planning now how I can keep up with her when she starts driving soon. I have ideas!! LOL

Re: Why do you snoop?

spachic,

It's nice to hear other moms looking out for their children. It is important. With technology changing day to day, you've found a good place here at GuG to help you keep up.

GuG is a wonderful place with lots of great people.

Lynn
