Youth and their appearances

Has it gone too far or is it just a way of expression?

Re: Youth and their appearances

I think in some cases it has gone to far. I dont think a 12 year old girl need to be letting her breasts hanging out of her shirts and have her buttcheeks hanging out of her shorts. Now Im not going to say I didnt dress like this when I was young but I never thought of the consequinces either. I do remember being treated very unfairly because of how I dressed but all i wanted was to lok cool like all the girls in tha magazines. Now this is where the media comes in. Its so cool to portray the model bimbo type it isnt funny. Howvere some parents allow there young girls to purchase britney spears things and people like that. I think it is going to get way worse before it gets better. Heck from when I was in high school to now it is way different and thats only been 8 years ago.

I hate the way young girls dress. Especially pre-highschool aged girls. i want to go throw a jacket around them and cover some skin. As you mostly all no, im by no means a prude, but there IS a time and pace for everything, and school is NOT the place for underage girls to be looking like whores!

SO here is a questions - at what age do you feel is appropriate for body piercings (not ears but the more like: tongue, navel, eye brow, nose....)?

[/quote]

Tongue, nose and eyebrow?????.......um never......lol The tongue makes you lisp and no matter how hard they try I still can hear it. The nose I just don't understand........I mean how do you blow your nose with that thing? The eyebrow.....well I think that would be annoying and I've already told my daughter she is never allowed to get her face pierced.....lol. The bellybutton doesn't bother me because you can cover it up but I mean you have to have a nice stomach or please don't!! And even that I told her when she is old enough not to need my permission........lol

that's just it. we have become a judgmental society.

Yeah, I doubt he'll be the next Versace model, or work anywhere that there is a normal dresscode... but I'm sure he knew that going in.

If it makes you uncomfortable, that's an understandable judgment... everyone judges people in that way at some point in their life... I don't hang out with athletes because... well... they make me uncomfortable... doesn't mean they aren't good people...

I just can't stand when people are certain in their heads that people who do something that society deems inappropriate (nevermind that piercing and tattooing is one of the most ancient forms of individual expression... if he had on Armani though, we'd praise him) they automatically decide they are a bad person... so as long as we aren't passing THAT sort of judgment, I don't really care what people think lol.

Back on topic though... I doubt many people here would let their children do that anyhow.

Re: Youth and their appearances

I had my septum pierced for years. Blowing my nose wasn't all that troublesome. Plus I could take it out whenever I wanted and just put it back in. I eventually left it out when I realized I hadn't worn it in over a year. When I didn't wear it I had a retainer that hid inside my nose to keep the hole open. Piercings are better than tattoos because as long as you don't stretch the skin past the point of elasticity or acquire scar tissue it's not permanent. Just take it out when your over it.
